Laura Salt from Staffordshire

Title of work - Untitled
Acrylic on acrylic paper

How Shapers were used:
The picture was produced entirely with Colour Shapers because the materials used required something much more durable than a brush.

The substrate is photographic paper with additional photographs stuck to the surface.

Laura used the firm clay shapers - black tip - to scrape away the top surface of the photographs with bleach (something that is not possible with a brush) to remove most of the original images.

Then Laura applied layers of acrylic with the softer, grey tipped Colour Shapers creating the striking effect that you can see here.

Finally, a grey taper point size 6 was used to scrape away some of the acrylic to reveal the bleached area below. When Laura had finished she found that all of the Colour Shapers were as good as new, even after using them with bleach.

She also said that the tools enabled her to create her art with a far wider range of materials than would have been possible using brushes.
